Canadian equities are slightly higher on the day

Despite a volatile start, Canadian equities are slightly higher on the day. The S&P/TSX Composite Index is up 0.1% at midday.
In corporate news, Baytex Energy Inc. (BTE) is higher after BTE reported better-than-expected results for Q4F2017. Production of 69,556 boe/d and funds flow per share of $0.45 were both ahead of consensus estimates of 68,583 boe/d and $0.39, respectively. Bombardier Inc. (BBD.b) announced a bought deal equity financing that will result in gross proceeds of ~$638M to the company, or ~$734M if an overallotment option is exercised in full, according to a Bombardier press release.
